Oral Cancer
- Oral Cancer is the 6th leading cause of death among men.
- More people die from oral cancer than cervical cancer or melanoma.
- The largest increase in oral cancer is among non-smokers and the main cause is HPV (human papilloma virus).
- HPV- associated oral cancer appear mostly in the posterior regions whereas tobacco related oral cancer tend to appear more in the front of the mouth.
- Currently oral cancer only has 50% to 59% five year survival rate.
- In 2007 34,000 people were diagnosed with oral cancer.
